Known as the “Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh” for its exquisite 11th-century erotic carvings and intricate architecture, the Bhormadeo Temple complex will now be developed on the lines of Varanasi’s iconic Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. The ₹146 crore project, funded under the Central Government’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0, aims to preserve ancient heritage while boosting religious tourism, local employment, and economic growth.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai described the launch as an “auspicious beginning” to 2026, stating: “This project will give a new identity to Chhattisgarh’s ancient heritage and promote our cultural unity in diversity.”Key features of the Bhormadeo Corridor include:

  • Development of the main temple complex, including Madwa Mahal, Chherki Mahal, Ramchua, and Sarodha Dadar.
  • Six grand entrances, parking facilities, a museum, conservation of perimeter walls, boundary decorations, drinking water, sheds, electricity, drainage, and extensive plantation.
  • Enhanced visitor amenities to attract national and international tourists.

The initiative is expected to create jobs for local youth, strengthen Chhattisgarh’s position on India’s tourism map, and highlight the state’s rich tribal and historical legacy.
