Raipur/New Delhi | January 1, 2026
The New Year has started with a financial jolt for the common man, specifically for those running businesses. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have announced a sharp increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders effective today, January 1, 2026.
The Big Update: Commercial LPG Up by ₹111 While you were celebrating New Year’s Eve, the rates for the 19kg commercial LPG cylinder were revised upwards by ₹111. This steep hike is expected to directly impact the hospitality sector, likely making food at restaurants, hotels, and cafes more expensive in the coming days.
Relief for Households However, there is a sigh of relief for household consumers. The prices of 14.2kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged. This means your kitchen budget stays stable for now, even as commercial establishments face the heat of the price rise.
New Rates in Major Cities (As of Jan 1, 2026): Following the revision, the new rates for a 19kg Commercial Cylinder are:
- Delhi: ₹1,691.50
- Mumbai: ₹1,642.50
- Kolkata: ₹1,795.00
- Chennai: ₹1,849.50
Impact in Chhattisgarh In Chhattisgarh, the impact is visible immediately.
- Raipur: The 19kg commercial cylinder now costs approximately ₹1,892.50 (increasing by ₹111).
- Durg/Bhilai: Rates have crossed the ₹1,893 mark.
- Domestic Cylinder (Raipur): Remains stable at ₹924.00.
Why the Hike? Oil companies revise LPG prices on the 1st of every month based on international crude oil rates and currency exchange fluctuations. While Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices were cut by approx 7% today, the burden was shifted to commercial gas users.
What This Means for You If you are planning weddings or parties this month, catering costs might see a slight rise. Small tea stall owners and snack shops may also feel the pinch of this ₹111 hike.
