New Delhi/Washington: In a massive disclosure that has once again shaken the corridors of power, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has released thousands of pages of documents related to the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The release, mandated by the bipartisan Epstein Files Transparency Act signed into law in November 2025, was intended to finally bring the full truth to light.
However, rather than closure, the “dump” has ignited a firestorm of controversy. Critics, including victims’ advocates, are calling the release a “controlled explosion,” pointing to heavy redactions and missing files that obscure the full extent of the systemic abuse.
The “Invisible Man” and The Flight Logs
The new tranche of documents, released in waves between December 19 and December 23, 2025, contains explosive details about the global elite’s connections to Epstein:
• Donald Trump: The files include flight logs indicating the former President flew on Epstein’s private jet significantly more often than previously reported—at least eight times between 1993 and 1996. One specific log places him on a flight with Epstein and an unnamed 20-year-old woman. The DOJ, however, issued a statement alongside the release labeling some claims against Trump as “untrue and sensationalist,” a move that has drawn sharp criticism for appearing to run interference for the current administration.
• Prince Andrew: Emails from 2001 and 2002 identify the Duke of York under the alias “The Invisible Man.” In these exchanges, he reportedly asked Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell to arrange meetings with “inappropriate friends,” raising fresh questions about the depth of his involvement.
• Bill Clinton: Newly released photos show the former President in social settings with Maxwell and others, including images of him relaxing in a swimming pool at one of Epstein’s properties.
Transparency or Cover-Up?
For Roots, the core story is not just the celebrity names, but the systemic failure of justice. Despite the Transparency Act’s mandate to release “all unclassified records,” the files provided are riddled with blacked-out text.
Reports indicate that at least 16 files “disappeared” from the DOJ website shortly after being uploaded. The heavy redactions have made it nearly impossible to identify potential enablers who have yet to face public scrutiny.
“This isn’t transparency; it’s a cover-up in plain sight,” said one victims’ rights advocate. “They are following the letter of the law while violating its spirit. The public deserves to know who protected this network for decades.”
Why It Matters
For our readers at Roots, this story serves as a stark reminder of the impunity enjoyed by the powerful. Whether in Washington, London, or elsewhere, the protective ring around the elite remains difficult to penetrate. The release of these files was supposed to be the final chapter; instead, it proves that the fight for accountability is far from over.
Roots will continue to monitor these documents as independent researchers attempt to decode the redacted information.
