Chief Minister felicitates acclaimed filmmaker behind ‘Chanakya’, appreciates his contribution to bringing Indian history, literature and cultural heritage to wider audiences

Raipur, August 14, 2026: The film director, filmmaker and actor Padma Shri Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi visited the Chief Minister’s Residence Office, Raipur, to pay a courtesy call to the Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday, highlighting the importance of celebrating the bond between art, heritage and storytelling.
The Chief Minister, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai warmly welcomed Dr. Dwivedi and gave him a memento and a shawl as a token of appreciation. The meeting was an enlightening discussion on Indian history, literature, folklore, cultural heritage and the significance of cinema in preserving and promoting India’s rich civilizational heritage to the modern audience.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Dr. Dwivedi’s stellar creative career was well worth appreciating, as cinema and television were important mediums in the dissemination of India’s historical and cultural heritage from one generation to the next. He pointed out the depth of research, cultural sensitivity and the capability to bring great chapters of Indian history to light that Dr. Dwivedi has done.
The Chief Minister in particular referred to the popular TV serial ‘Chanakya’, where Dr. Dwivedi’s performance of Acharya Chanakya and his ideas of ‘Artha, Dharma, Kama, Kaushal’ is commendable and how he has soared as a representative of political philosophy, statesmanship and vision. He added that such works can serve as a powerful means of introducing the young readers to the historical underpinnings, civilizational values and cultural roots of India.
Chhattisgarh’s rich tribal traditions were also discussed as well as its folk literature and historical heritage. Chief Minister Shri Sai noted that the state’s rich cultural heritage and way of life provide vast creative and research potentials for script writers, film makers, historians and story tellers.
The dynamic engagement highlighted the significance of preserving and showcasing the tapestry of Indian culture, adapting it to appeal to the younger audience. In particular, rich indigenous traditions and expressions and historical narrative of Chhattisgarh provide a colorful backdrop to the stories and cultural exploration.
Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi appreciated Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s thrust for safeguarding the indigenous heritage of the State and encouraging its culture and arts of the State, for the welcome he received.
