RAIPUR, Aug 17 — REC Limited just deployed ₹7.21 crore to push mobile healthcare directly into Chhattisgarh’s most isolated zones. Governor Ramen Deka officially flagged off six newly outfitted Mobile Medical Units at Lok Bhawan on Saturday, executing a corporate social responsibility initiative built for communities that rarely see a doctor. The Ministry of Power’s Maharatna enterprise didn’t just write a cheque and step back. They’ve locked in a ground-level operational partnership with the Chhattisgarh chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society to guarantee these clinics actually reach the state’s underserved areas.

But aren’t six vans a mere fraction of what’s needed in a sprawling state riddled with disconnected villages? REC officials insist it’s a highly targeted strike at the state’s most stubborn medical dead zones. The deployment directly addresses the demographic that conventional brick-and-mortar healthcare facilities can’t physically reach. Satyaban Sahoo, REC Limited’s Chief Project Manager for the Raipur Regional Office, stood alongside Indian Red Cross Society executives at the launch to confirm the fleet’s mandate. They aren’t parking these units anywhere near urban centres. They’re sending them deep into territories where basic medical access remains a logistical nightmare.

And they’ve explicitly tied this aggressive CSR push to New Delhi’s broader political ambitions. REC Limited representatives released a statement framing the ₹7.21 crore expenditure as a foundational piece of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ — an inclusive, developed India. They argue that national development metrics don’t mean much if rural citizens remain completely cut off from essential medical services. By mobilising diagnostic and treatment capabilities, the company expects to immediately bridge the most severe healthcare gaps across the state’s interior. It’s a calculated financial intervention aimed straight at a geographical crisis.

They’re betting that mobility is the only viable cure for total isolation.
